Advancing the Intentional Use of Technology
Pro Education, Not Anti-Tech
“We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars globally to put devices in front of students, yet there is not a single international assessment…that shows a positive return on that investment in core academic achievement.” Dr. Jared C. Horvath, The Digital Delusion

Our Asks
-
Set Developmental Age Limits
In grades K through 2, eliminate routine device use for our youngest learners, with exceptions only for mandated assessments and IEP accommodations.
In grades 3 through 5, transition away from 1:1 screen dependency back to shared classroom carts and labs.
For middle school, provide analog and paper options and clear opt out policies for screen-based learning; utilize tech when there is clear benefit to the learner.
-
Screen-Time Caps & Content Controls
Establish enforceable daily and weekly screen limits by grade level
Disable access to open platforms like YouTube, games, and social media on student devices. Teachers should share video content through shared file drives.
-
Transparency, Privacy & Accountability
Provide families with quarterly reporting detailing actual in-school device usage, time spent, and active platforms.
Require rigorous, independent evaluation of all Ed Tech contracts rather than relying on vendor claims and studies. Ensure strong privacy and data safeguards.
